Boston hotels with rooftop pools, and how to swim without booking a room

Only one of the two Boston rooftop pools open to non-guests is running in the cold months. Here is where to swim now, and what to plan for next summer.

The two Boston hotels we could verify that sell outside access to a rooftop pool are the Colonnade in Back Bay and the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport. It is late October, so the Colonnade is closed until 2027, while the Omni's heated pool is listed as open year-round.

If you searched for a rooftop pool in Boston that you can actually use, this guide covers each hotel, how non-guests get in, when the pools run, and where to swim indoors until the weather turns. Everything here comes from pages we read in October 2026. Prices and hours change, so treat the numbers as a guide and confirm before you go.

Rooftop pool Boston: what is open right now

Here is the October picture. The Colonnade's own pool page says the rooftop pool is closed for the season and points to 2027. The Rooftop@Revere lounge says the same, with a spring 2027 return. Rooftop pools here are seasonal, and the one other example we found, at the Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill, is listed as running Memorial Day to Labor Day.

The exception is the Omni in the Seaport. Its ResortPass listing describes a heated rooftop pool and hot tub that stay open all year. After that, your best bet is an indoor hotel pool, and Boston has several you can enter with a day pass.

Boston hotels with rooftop pools: comparison table

This table covers the rooftop and outdoor pools we could check, plus the indoor pools most people end up using. "Day pass" means a pass sold through ResortPass unless noted.

The Colonnade rooftop pool in Back Bay

The Colonnade's pool is the one locals mean when they say "rooftop pool." It sits at 120 Huntington Avenue, and the hotel's page calls it the roof top pool, or RTP. Time Out described it in 2023 as one of the few hotel pools open to non-guests.

When can non-guests get in?

The hotel's page lists public access, subject to availability, Monday to Thursday and on Sundays after 2 p.m. Public entry was $55 on those days, and visitors must be 21 or older after 5 p.m. Space is first come, first served, so lounge chairs can run out. Time Out noted in 2023 that weekends were limited to guests, condo residents and cabana renters.

What does a cabana cost?

The hotel's cabana page lists a daytime rental of $400 on weekdays, $450 on Fridays and Saturdays, and $350 on Sundays, each with a minimum food and beverage spend. Up to four guests are included in the day. The page is undated, so ask for current rates.

When does it reopen?

The pool page says it is closed for the season, with no 2027 date. Summer is the season. The hotel's pool line, 617-425-3420, is the quickest way to learn the opening weekend.

Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport

The Omni is the best answer to "Boston hotels with rooftop pools" in the colder months. Its ResortPass listing describes a heated rooftop pool and hot tub, with the pool pass window running 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for adults 18 and over. It includes a lounge chair, towels and fitness center access. Food and drinks are extra.

Two things to know. First, the same listing says the pass is not available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Second, sources disagree on access. The Rooftop Guide lists the Omni as guests only, while ResortPass sells day passes. We'd trust the live booking page over a directory.

Other Boston rooftop pools, and one that has no pool

The Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill appears in one directory as a seasonal rooftop pool, open Memorial Day to Labor Day and limited to hotel guests. We found no official page to confirm it, so call before you count on it.

The Revere Hotel Boston Common is murkier. Its rooftop lounge is closed for the season and returns in spring 2027. Older write-ups describe a small pool beside the lounge, and a 2016 report called it indoors with outdoor cabanas, but we could not confirm current non-guest access.

The Envoy in the Seaport comes up in searches for a rooftop swimming pool in Boston. Its own page describes a rooftop bar and lounge seven levels above the harbor, and it mentions no pool. If you want a drink with a view instead, see our guide to the best hotel bars in Boston.

How to swim without booking a room

Day passes on ResortPass

This is the easiest route. ResortPass lists Boston pools from roughly $28 to $90 for the in-city hotels we checked, and a pass typically covers the pool area, a lounge chair and towels. You book a date, then check in at the front desk with your confirmation and photo ID. Our guide to Boston hotel day passes covers spa and gym passes too.

Cabanas

If you want guaranteed shade and a table, rent a cabana. The Colonnade is the one we verified. Plan on a rental fee plus a food and drink minimum.

Health club memberships

Some pools sit inside a health club. Time Out reported in 2023 that non-guests need a membership for the Rowes Wharf Health Club at the Boston Harbor Hotel, and that the InterContinental sells day passes or memberships. Call for current terms.

Best hotel pools in Boston for the cold months

For the best hotel pools in Boston once the roofs close, start indoors.

  • Sheraton Boston, Back Bay. A salt water pool with a retractable roof, open daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at 39 Dalton Street. Day passes start around $34.
  • InterContinental Boston. A 2,500-square-foot heated lap pool with year-round hours, according to Time Out in 2023.
  • Hyatt Regency Boston. A heated indoor lap pool and saunas, from $28 for adults 13 and over.
  • Royal Sonesta Boston, Cambridge. An indoor salt water pool and a sundeck over the Charles River, from $28 for adults 18 and over.
  • Wave Health & Fitness Club, Seaport. A three-lane heated lap pool, steam room and a free class with the pass, from $39.

For a luxury stay, note that the Mandarin Oriental has no swimming pool on the property, according to a SmartFlyer review, though its spa has heat experiences. We could not verify pool details at the Four Seasons or Westin Copley from a current source, so we left them out.

A Boston hotel with an outdoor pool

If you want an outdoor pool that is not on a roof, The Verb Hotel in Fenway has a heated one, at 1271 Boylston Street. Day guests must be 21 or older, and the pass starts around $35 to $39 depending on the listing. It does not state a season, so check availability before you plan a swim in cold weather.

When do Boston's rooftop pools open?

Summer. The pattern is roughly Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the Wyndham directory entry uses those dates. The Colonnade does not publish a firm opening date on its pool page, and we found no 2027 announcement yet. Expect the same shape next year, then watch the hotel's pages in April and May.

How to choose

  • You want a roof in summer: the Colonnade, on a weekday or a Sunday afternoon.
  • You want a heated roof now: the Omni, outside the Memorial Day to Labor Day window.
  • You want laps: Wave, the Sheraton or the InterContinental.
  • You want a quiet spot to work around your swim: see our picks for places to work in Boston.

Pool access with Create

Create is a private members' club in Boston's five-star hotels, built as premium space to work with the all-inclusive treatment. It is for the people building what's next: founders, investors, operators, creatives, independent talent and remote workers.

Pool, gym and spa access at partner hotels is part of membership, alongside a concierge on arrival, a coffee or drink on us every visit, Wi-Fi and rooms to meet, booked in the app. Members also get Create Nights each week and a monthly Demo Night.

We open on Friday, January 15, 2027, so this is a membership for the months ahead, not a way into a pool today. The first 200 founding members in Boston pay $99 a month for as long as they stay, then it is $149. Joining the waitlist is free, and you pay nothing until you are accepted.

Questions people ask

Can you use a hotel pool in Boston without staying there?

Yes, at many hotels. Most do it through day passes sold on ResortPass, which cover pool access, a lounge chair and towels. The Colonnade sells public entry directly on certain days, and some hotels reserve their pool for guests or members. Rules and prices change, so check the hotel or ResortPass page for your date.

Which Boston hotels have a rooftop pool?

The Colonnade in Back Bay and the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport are the two that sell outside access. The Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill lists a seasonal rooftop pool for guests, and the Revere has a rooftop lounge next to a small pool. The Envoy has a rooftop bar, and its site mentions no pool.

When does the Colonnade rooftop pool open?

The hotel's page says the pool is closed for the season and points to 2027, without giving a reopening date. Summer is its season. Check the Colonnade's site or call the pool line in spring before you plan a visit, because the date and public days can shift from year to year.

How much is a day pass for a Boston hotel pool?

It depends on the hotel. In listings we read in October 2026, indoor hotel pools started around $28 to $39 on ResortPass, The Verb's outdoor pool started around $35 to $39, and the Omni's rooftop pass started at $90. The Colonnade listed $55 for public entry. Prices change by date, so confirm at booking.

Are there indoor hotel pools in Boston open in winter?

Yes. The Sheraton Boston has a salt water pool with a retractable roof, and the Hyatt Regency Boston, Royal Sonesta in Cambridge and Wave in the Seaport have indoor pools sold through ResortPass. The InterContinental's heated lap pool runs year-round, and the Omni's rooftop pool is heated year-round.
